Planet Bee Intern

Fran is currently pursuing an environmental science and geography degree with a minor in comparative world literature at San Francisco State University. She grew up between South San Francisco and Sacramento, often finding herself at along San Francisco's beaches or the American River mainly feeding wildlife. My passions revolve around eco-journalism and habitat restoration--specifically coral reef systems, Northern California's coastal forests, and mangroves. After she graduates, she plans on contributing to field research of various ecosystems and habitats, learning from indigenous and underrepresented voices of colonized environments, and empowering their narratives with broader audiences.

What do you love about bees?

Despite being mistaken as aggressive for their (generally perceived) stingers and their small size, they have a big impact on our food security, global economies, and the vitality of our ecosystems. They aren’t just pollinators, they are the gardeners of the earth.

If I wasn't so good at my job I would be...

Hanging with and nurturing squirrels
