Planet Bee educators will provide lessons for students at the hive and students will be able to suit up, see live honey bees in action, and even open the hive to investigate frames of bees (with proper protective gear of course)! We even lead a honey-spinning in the fall, one of the sweetest rewards to working with honey bees. Our beekeepers will maintain the hive for the duration of the 2-year program, with the opportunity for staff, students and community members to shadow and learn the trade, so the school community can take full ownership of the colony once the program is over.

Our Adopt-A-Hive Program integrates our Humble Honey Bee lesson and age appropriate, hands-on activities into your school’s curriculum, all centered around the campus hive.

We are deeply committed to environmental justice and therefore offer sliding scale fees. Need-based scholarships are also available, courtesy of our sponsors and partners.

If you work with a community garden, non-profit, or other community group, we can help you establish a beehive at your location! Honey bees are an excellent addition to any outdoor space, as they greatly improve pollination services and local ecosystem vitality.
