This spring, Planet Bee’s Coding for Conservation program invited over 600 middle school students to use coding, sensors, and real environmental data to explore native bee activity. Through hands-on learning with Micro and Smart Native Bee Houses, students didn’t just learn to code, they learned how scientists use data to understand and protect pollinators. The result: a powerful bridge from classroom learning to climate action.

To celebrate this year’s International Women’s Month, we spoke with Dr. Kit Prendergast, a valued member of the Planet Bee community as well as a native bee ecologist and science communicator the "Bee Babette”. During our interview Dr. Kit was able to share with us her experiences as a woman in conservation, how to support others in the field, and the significance of her work in science communication and native bee research.
