From Seed to Stewardship: A New Partnership with Renee’s Garden

Exciting New Seed Ball Grant Program

Planet Bee has partnered with Renee’s Garden to open applications for a new expanded version of the Seed Ball Stewardship Grant!

Planet Bee is dedicated to educating and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewardship, and has been proud to provide students and community members with engaging and hands-on stewardship activities, inspiring individuals in our community by showing that big change can result from small actions.

The Stewardship Grant Program stays true to this mission, empowering schools, nonprofits and community groups to make meaningful change in their local environment by providing them access to our seed ball kits as well as Planet Bee’s Environmental STEM Programs. We hope this new version of our grant will allow even more community members to understand and appreciate our ecosystem, and bring a conservation focused mindset into their day-to-day lives.

Planet Bee’s executive director, Dr. Jamie Chan, weighed in on the wide-reaching impact that this grant will have:

“Every seed ball planted is a chance for students and community members to become real agents of change. Over the past year, Planet Bee has reached tens of thousands of learners and helped grow 600,000+ pollinator supporting plants, showing that when young people see science in action and connect with nature, small choices turn into big impact right where they live and learn. The Seed Ball Stewardship Grant expands that reach, turning curiosity into action, and backyards and schoolyards into thriving habitat for pollinators and people alike.”

Schools, nonprofits, and community organizations will be given seed ball materials: soil, clay, and region-specific wildflower seeds to create pollinator-friendly habitats, and access to our Live Virtual Lessons and NGSS aligned curriculum to use in K-12 classrooms!

Introducing our Partner: Renee's Garden

This year’s grant would not be possible without Partnership with Renee’s Garden, a seed company committed to providing high-quality, non-GMO flower, herb, and vegetable seeds that support biodiversity, sustainability and pollinators. Renee’s Garden promotes environmentally responsible and organic gardening practices and shares a passion for making gardening accessible, educational, and impactful.

Renee’s Garden believes in sharing the love of gardening and fostering healthy landscapes, and understands the value of creating pollinator-friendly spaces. We asked Renee Shepherd, founder of Renee’s Garden Seeds, to share a bit about what this partnership means to their mission:

“At Renee’s Garden, we believe every garden should be a sanctuary for the creatures that sustain our food systems. Our partnership with Planet Bee Foundation is a natural extension of our mission to provide high-quality, non-GMO seeds that protect biodiversity and support our hard-working pollinators.

By combining our seeds with Planet Bee’s STEM curriculum, this grant helps us move beyond the garden and into the classroom to empower the next generation of environmental stewards. Together, we are planting more than flowers; we are sowing the seeds of curiosity, community action, and a more sustainable future for everyone.”

Planet Bee Foundation and Renee’s Garden share a passion for biodiversity, and together are supporting seed ball projects that combine learning with action, helping students and communities restore pollinator habitat, strengthen local ecosystems, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
