Seeking Part-time Beekeepers in the SF Bay Area

Join Planet Bee Foundation in our mission to inspire and educate the world about bee biodiversity while promoting environmental conservation and stewardship. In this important role as a Planet Bee Foundation Beekeeper, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining honeybee hives at corporate and community apiaries as part of our Adopt-A-Hive Program. You will collaborate with Planet Bee leadership to manage honey bee colonies at various apiary sites in the San Francisco Bay Area, completing regular colony health and activity reports. This role also includes opportunities to work with local corporate and community partners to conduct hive and honey events, as well as to harvest honey.

You will be expected to visit each apiary approximately once a month, or 2-3 times per month during the active beekeeping season (March–November) as needed. 

Current apiary locations include:

• San Francisco – 3 sites

• Palo Alto – 2 sites

• Mountain View – 3 sites

• San Jose – 1 site

Visits will be scheduled in coordination with Planet Bee leadership. This part-time position offers additional opportunities to engage in community and corporate workshops and educational programs. The ideal candidate is an experienced beekeeper with knowledge of Bay Area climate challenges and has an interest in learning how to educate and engage with the public about bee conservation and its role in environmental stewardship!
